SEATTLE CITY GUIDE

disco2

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting one of my favorite cities: Seattle. My husband and I have friends that live there in Ballard, so we try to make it an annual tradition. Along with the great company, one of the things I love most about visiting them is the local spots they take us to, whether it be bars and restaurants (it definitely pays off having foodie friends!) or amazing neighborhoods and landmarks. These places were just too good not to share, so I’ve created the ultimate weekend travel guide, featuring the Emerald City’s best places to eat, drink, stay and play. Enjoy!

EAT

  • Stateside // One of Capitol Hill’s best dinner spots, serving a Vietnamese menu with French and Chinese influences—translation: delicious.
  • Hotel Albatross // An eclectic lounge and restaurant in Ballard with tiki-inspired cocktails and a Mexican-fusion menu. Must try: totchos a.k.a. tator tot nachos. Need I say more?
  • Westward // Situated right on Lake Union with amazing bunch offerings, Life Aquatic-themed decor and a dreamy outdoor space for when you want to take advantage of those occasional sunny days.

DRINK

  • Bathtub Gin // Open an unmarked door in a downtown Seattle alleyway and step inside a speakeasy-style bar with one-of-a-kind cocktails.
  • Foreign National // From the owners of (and located right next door to) Stateside in Capitol Hill, this bar lets you sit under a giant disco ball and enjoy specialty cocktails like the “Long Thailand” Iced Tea.
  • Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room // Far from your average neighborhood Starbucks, this landmark is a coffee connoisseur’s dream with Willy Wonka-inspired roasters and espresso tasting flights you can’t find anywhere else.

STAY

  • The Roosevelt // A historic boutique hotel with recently renovated rooms, located downtown right across from Nordstrom’s famous flagship store.
  • Thompson Hotel // Downtown’s newest luxury hotel just steps away from Pike Place Market with an amazing rooftop bar.
  • Root Vegetable Houseboats // If you’re looking for a local’s experience, this is it. Anchored on the docks of Lake Union with unobstructed cityscape and Space Needle views.

PLAY

  • Pike Place Market // Definitely a tourist hot spot, but still a great place to explore with tons of food vendors, good bars and restaurants and the iconic gum wall.

  • Hot Tub Boats // Yes, this is a thing. Steer yourself around Lake Union while sitting in a steamy and relaxing hot tub and enjoying amazing city views.
  • Discovery Park // Over 500 acres along the Puget Sound with tree-lined hiking trails, rocky coastlines and a picturesque lighthouse.
